Resolved Question: Is Downey, CA a safe place for a young white female to live?

I'm a looking at a room in a house there and its not the nice part of Downey. Its a small house on a small street off Lakewood blvd. The lady who owns it seems really nice and has kids my age. I think it should be fine but I'm only 23 and I've never lived in LA. I come from a small town in california. I'm moving to teach in Huntington Park. My other option is to rent this room in Monterey Park which I know is safer but its further from work. What do you think? Will I be ok in Downey?... read more
