Resolved Question: Huntington Beach, CA, tenant rights?

Renting for past 8 months, house in gated community, no lease, verbal agreement, month-to-month, cash only. The landlord stores his things in 1 of the bedrooms, sleeps 1 night a week. He gave me 30 day notice to move through text message. I have not yet found a place to move. I am a full-time student and just got laid off from work. Also, I am handicapped. Is he considered as living in the home? Must the notice be court ordered or hand-written to be considered legal? By law, can I stay in home until I find another place? Must I pay rent if I am still living there after the 30 days is up? Does the 30 days begin when he verbally says it or just when I receive the court order? If I am evicted by either a hand written notice or court order, will it go on my credit report? Currently, my “designated” parking is on the street, no "permission" to park in driveway, Thursday street sweeping, given numerous parking tickets, I have no where to park Thursday morning. 3 cars of his own, 2 in garage & 1 in driveway. I parked in the driveway last week. The landlord ordered me to move my vehicle. I pay rent. Is the driveway considered public/ private/landlord's property? Do I have a right as a tenant to park in driveway? Can he tow my vehicle?... read more
